Shamail, while your query may be considered offtopic for this list. I
realize that you must be in pain due to the vodafone proxy. As a side
note remember that the postings on this list are going down. So, an
inference could be drawn that the people with the breadth required to
answer your query are a little rare to find here. My advise would be to
not give up on the list and ignore the noise. There might be someone
from that domain checking the digests.

Nevertheless, let me try and help you ask yourself some questions. These
will be very high level for I am no expert in the area. It may just
happen to be of some help. But no guarantees.

1. Are you sure that the gmail midlet you are trying to install uses
http protocol?
2. Have you found some program for your phone which lets you specify an
operating system wide http proxy?
3. Have you verified that vodafone does not have an active policy to
block all non http or non authenticated access?

You could also try posing the query on forum nokia . Or other global
lists where j2me developers gather.
