Buying PC / Laptop without MS product will not guarantee that you will be able to exploit its full hardware capability on Linux. I purchased laptop with FreeDOS, failed to get some features (like audio recording / webcam ) worked at all. Even buying preinstalled Linux may also be not a solution. Example is "Intel Classroom tablet". Preinstalled Ubuntu, works excellent, but if you want to its upgrade, other flavour, you will find stylus (touch screen / wifi / bluetooth) not working and company advise you not to upgrade. Do it at your risk + lose of warranty. In some cases, pre-installed M$ product, can work very well as dual boot on any flavour of Linux. So YMMV. Unless hardware company support FOSS, give you freedom, it is struggle. Better combine hand to fight this struggle rather than developing one's skill in resolving issues only. Legal / Political / Social fronts are equally important. -- H.S.Rai _______________________________________________ Ilugd mailing list [email protected] http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd
