With respect to Infrastructure, at FSMK's community centre in Bangalore, we
are using LTSP setup with 4 old P3 system with 128-256 MB RAM and one new
CPU with i3 processor, 4 GB RAM. This CPU cost us Rs. 14,000 along with DVD
Writer and extra Network card.
The old P3 systems have been donated to us but in market along with the old
CRT monitors they might be available in around Rs. 3000.
We have been using this setup for last one year and other than issues
related to network cable or the network switch, we have not faced any
maintenance need for computers themselves. We do not have any power backup
for these systems.
With respect to software, we have not needed any special maintenance. We
are using EdUbuntu as the operating system. We did update the operating
system once around six months ago.
