Great initiative and a good response from the management as well.
I remember in my College days, I did my final year project bringing up a
mail server purely based on FOSS; Postfix + Sendmail + MySQl. After
successful completion, I went to my department profs and asked them, if we
can deploy it on our college server and flourish an email address to each
student at college domain, they refused it straight away pointing security
concerns, infrastructure concerns. My sincere attempts to convince them
about the benefits were all put to vein.

Seeing things improving feels good.

Lets hope we can take this to many such colleges, make them come out of all
the written principles and make education a more practical thing.
