If possible don'tuse 31/2" floppies for any important data. If you must then
either make multiple copies of your zip file in the floppy or use 2 or more
floppies. Never format your floppies in the source computer, if you must
format a floppy format it in the computer where you wan't to read the
floppy. Also you can very safely use programs that will format a 1.44mb
floppy to 1.7/1.8mb. The 1.7mb floppies can be easily read from and written
to on most computers. The 1.8mb floppies are slightly problematic.
IMHO floppies are a very big pain. I have stopped using them, unless when
nescessary. In fact my home computer doesn't have a floppy drive. I find
that using email (where possible) is a better idea. Another thing that you
can consider is a USB flash drive. They come for around 1k-1.5k for a
16/32MB model. They run on most newer computers w/o any drivers.
