IMHO, there should be a simpler solution than configuring mod_rewrite and other
proxy stuff.
Actually, I am not particular about port 8888 it could be 81 or 82 or
anything else.
Right parameters in these places would make it work. Help!!!!

you need mod_rewrite to redirect traffic for /secondapp/ to hostname:8888
that's besides all the directives to make apache listen on 8888 and make
content for secondapp available there
