login to the admin control panel - find the ip of the router and do a http://192.168.1.1 or whatever, likely user admin pass admin. You need to change that then make sure its not accessible over the public IP you get, etc etc. Then setup wifi security (WPA PSK and set a long password which you then config on your laptop). Just so people dont use your wifi connection for free, etc.
