Dear Jutta,

Did you try import via GeoGateway?
This is one of the options in the import operation.
After selecting this, you can check-on the 2 choices:
"combine compatible vector layers"
and
"convert to ILWIS data format"

ILWIS should then create a segment map and an attribute table which you
can attach to it.
One of the attribute columns in the table is titled 'Zvalue' and
contains the height of the contours.
I tried it with succes with an input dxf file of 200 Mb, producing an
ILWIS segment map of 31 Mb.

good luck

Subject: (ilwis-list) Importing dxf data

Hello to the experts,

I am trying to import an AutoCAD 2000 dxf contour file into Ilwis 3.0.
The data
are being scanned, a new domain is created, but when processing starts
Ilwis
crashes.

The same with AutoCAD 14 data.

What is the trick?

Thanks for your information!

Jutta Breyer
