Sometimes the dxf files have problems as I experienced, not ILWIS in
importing a good dxf. As first you sould check to have a dxf version Autocad
R12, it is the latest true dxf standard. The second thing is to check if
there are blocks in the original files. Blocks saved in dxf format brings a
lot of troubles - then crashes in importing them, but not only in ILWIS. You
can also open the dxf through a text editor; you can check empty lines
(often due to the blocks), usually they stop the import process. There are a
lot of similar mistakes. Good luck
