They do tend to get hot - the iMac 350 at work has been uncomfortably 
hot on top for the last 12 months, but still works, and my imac 400 has 
been toasty for the 3-4 months I've owned it.

Those heatsinks you can see on the sides tho - with the casing off, 
they're too hot to touch. however, it's still running and from all I've 
heard, it's just how their cooling works. The hot bits get hot in the 
right spots to work the convection cooling.
