Plextor is the most reliable.
It is also the most expensive, and it is hard to find.
Go to
www.accelerateYourMac.com
and read the reader reports on drives.
My experience with Lite-On was very bad, therefore i recommend against that brand.
Remember that USB CDRW can only write at slow speeds. (About 2X for rewriteable.)
Avoid CaliforniaDrives, bad trouble returning a drive that does not work.
As you read thru the reports re: Plextor at
www.accelerateYourMac.com
you will find references to vendors of the plextor.

Also, go to
http://www.pricewatch.com
Search for Plextor at pricewatch, and it will help you find a USB plextor drive.
Because you are using USB, the Plextor can be one od the slow ones -- 4x or 8x
is plenty fast enuff.
