This is incorrect;

AOL has had a beta of their client for OS X for a while, and recently (a
month or so ago) released the final version.

AFAIK, AOL for OS 9 also does not work in Classic; you must reboot into
OS 9, not just run the classic environment. It says "no modem available"
when you try to use it in Classic.
