Hi folks.
Well, just plugged in my new/re-furbished SE G3 iMac and have been
getting Error type 2 messages and am freezing up. Then an error type 10
message with a bomb icon appeared after I browsed the internet to check
my hotmail. The dialog box prompted me to restart.
Anyone have any ideas? It came only with 9.1 installed. (The usual
bundle is on cd). I noticed that the Airport installer was in the Trash
for some reason.
Now, I was hoping this machine's setup would be smooth. My worst fear is
that it comes with "issues" since it's re-manufactured. Hoping it's not
a lemon, I'm at a loss to guess what's going on. I'm going to email
SmallDog to see if they did a clean reinstall, but if not, my
inclination is to do so and then load OS X. Can one load OS X without
"classic"? I don't want to go through figuring out how to partion the
drive, etc and I have no compelling reason to use OS 9. If there's some
chance that these errors are not indicating hardware or electrical
problems, I'd rather not learn the ins and outs of both 9 and 10. Can 10
operate without 9?
Thanks for any comments. When I have the energy and time, I'll no doubt
be back on the phone with AppleCare.
Thanks,
Donald
