Dear List, In reply to various earlier replies to my post:

Then you will be able to just use an external CD burner. Plus > you get a G3/500 too lol. This is the spot I'm in - by new or upgrade? The Bondi needs RAM, speed, hard drive space and OS 9, especially to go to X. Why spend all that when I can get a new Mac for $_______? Hesitant to run X well on a G3, with the G4's becoming more common - really waiting for iBooks to get there! Looking for something to 'get by' till get a new Mac. The Zip 100 doesn't cut it anymore. > My suggestion would also be to go with an external CDRW. I did the > opposite. I replaced my CDRom with the Matsushita UJDA330 (8x 4x 32x). That worked as ASP shows it as a master now, but it's still not > bootable. Looked at external - the cost is a little more and buying on e-bay can be frustrating (out bid at the last minute, excahge, shipping). External USB can be slow too. That model seems to be the same as the one for sale. Will check to see if it will boot once replaced. > It would be bootable if you used a program like CD/DVD speedtools from Intech > (NOT > FWB!). Works like a charm every time. Have heard of 'speed tools' - how does it work? Advantages? Excuse my ignorance, but what does 'FWB' mean? > What Mac Dealer, are they online, how much? http://www.wegenermedia.com/indexa.html Look under iMac CD/DVD drives - scrool to last section - "Tray Loading iMac CDRW" Thanks for all your help guys, I really appreciate it!
