Setting up a simple network shouldn't disrupt your dial-up settings on a machine that is NOT running in OS X. I didn't have a problem until I booted into X and tried to set up a network. I lost the dialup settings and had to create a separate location for them. So if I want to connect to the internet I can't be connected to my Rev. SCSI devices yes (I think you might need to make them shared devices), Floppy drive, maybe. Since what you put in the floppy drive shows up on the desktop, you should be able to READ what is on a disk by going to the LC's Desktop Folder. However, this folder is locked so you won't be able to save to the floppy. You'll have to save to the LC Hard Drive and then walk over to the LC and copy to a floppy. >5) Will the old LC (running 8.1) still need a monitor, keyboard & mouse?
