Although I don't use OS X I do know that Netscape 6.x under OS 9 saves it's data in 
the Mozilla folder in the Documents folder at the root of your HD while Netscape 4.7x 
saves it in the Netscape Users folder in the prefs folder of your System Folder. So no 
you cannot switch back and forth.

I think that even if you use the same Netscape version both in X and 9 that you have 
to tweak the settings so that both browsers look in the same folder for your mailbox 
and bookmarks.
