Hi all,

I've got a very frustrating issue with my original
Revision A iMac. I have read at numerous sites that it
is possible to upgrade to anywhere from 386-512 megs
of RAM.

I'm running 9.1, and recently changed my memory
configuration; I put the 64 meg DIMM I had in the top,
into the bottom, and installed a 256 meg DIMM in the
top. However, after restart, the machine only
recognized 128 out of the 256 meg DIMM; this left me
with 196, rather than 320!

I have a feeling I need to do a firmware update, or
something. However, the only one I was able to find on
Apple's website, was 1.2. When I tried to install it,
it informed me that it was unable to install because
it could not recognize the Firmware that was currently
installed ("it may be a newer version..").

I'm extremely puzzled right now. Am I going to have to
return my 256 meg DIMM and settle for 192 (the
official max listed on Apple's spec sheets), or can
somebody here explain to me what I'm doing wrong? :-)

Thanks,
Greg Miller
