I believe that Apple only Guarantees that the early Macs will recognize
256MB of RAM. With that said some will recognize more. The theoretical max
would be 512MB since that's the biggest 2 sticks you can fit.
I have the original 32MB in the bottom and a 256 in the top and it
recognizes all of it.
