Karen, Did you contact the seller about their having misrepresented the condition of the iMac?
Also, do you know what date it was manufactured? Even if it were still new when you bought it, it could have been sitting around for some time after shipping. I believe that the Flower Power model started shipping before Apple began to include OS X with the machines. If the machine is "under warranty until next March", then I believe that it did not ship with OS X. IFIRC, the machines started shipping with OS X in April 2001. Some of the reputable vendors of used Apple products are selling the OS 10.0.3 CDs at reduced prices, if you don't trust the eBay seller. From 10.0.3 you will have to get the upgrade to 10.1. Herb Goodfriend >My Flower Power iMac was purchased from a company which advertised it as >new; however, it was actually lightly used The most irksome thing about it, >is only OS 9.1 was included. I'm really itchy to make the move to X. I >have found on eBay "near flawless" iMac restore software (9.1 and 10.0.3) >which is represented as never used, but the seller states no license is >included. > >Might it work anyway? What about the same product represented as >unused/never registered? Or,should I just wait for Jaguar? > >BTW, it has Applecare 'til next March from the original owner--the Apple >employee transferred it to my name--but somehow I don't think that entitles >me to a "replacemnt" copy of X. > >Thanks, > >Karen -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
