Many manufacturers are taking this approach. If you plan to buy another
there is a list of OSX compatible scanners on Apple's web site. Another
option is to look on www.hamrick.com to see if your scanner is supported by
Vuescan. This is a stand alone very comprehensive scanning application for
OSX, OS9 and Linux. It's shareware and very good value.
