OS X is a bit too QUIET for me, but if you want to add sounds to your
everyday tasks, you'll have to download shareware or freeware to do this.

Try Xounds, by Unsanity.

This brings the "platinum" sounds from OS 9 into OS X with a single click
(and can be set to startup with your system each time) and you can ALSO
import sounds to your system that were based in OS 9, and also create your
own sounds (using a program such as Soundapp) and convert them using the OS
9 - OS X sound conversion tool in the program.

You can find it at http://www.unsanity.com/

Version 1.2 was recently released.

Also, pick up SILK at this site, its a free app which makes most programs on
OS X render the smooth "quartz" text, a feature which was installed with the
recent OS X update, but it creates this affect across ALL quartz-compatable
programs, such as Office X and AppleWorks, Internet Explorer, and most OS X
programs out there. This makes fonts easier on the eyes, and not so
itty-bitty and illegible (as us Mac users are so used to.)

Good Luck-
*B
