I have one of the original Imac's with the tray-load system, and have never had any problems with it. One of the things I really like about this is that I have two cats (was 3) who love the computer--they sleep on top of it, slap at the keyboard to make it "spring to life", etc.
I like the fact that this keeps the cat hair out better than the open slot-load system. I will probably upgrade soon, but will hate to lose the tray load CD.
