I was rather surprised to see it here. It was a problem on the G-list a while ago, but not for the last few months. Whether it was fixed there or spontaneously readjusted itself (reaching some magic number of subscribers, for instance), who knows. However, even if this is "going away soon", if it's expected that all listers know this, one might expect it mentioned in the faq. Unfortunately, there isn't a faq for this list. At the foot of this and every other message is a list of addresses, including : iMac List info: <http://lowendmac.com/imac/list.shtml> This just tells you how to subscribe, but the bogus reconfirmation problem isn't mentioned there. Though it does contain the admonition to "Since Mac users range from beginners to gurus, please be tolerant of "dumb" questions." On a wider issue, there are a lot of (other) questions asked over and over, "frequently" in fact, so I am somewhat disappointed that there aren't any FAQs for the LEM lists. The current search function sucks, so one just has to ask.
