Hey Bev; I don't have a fix for your problem but I do have some relevant information. I own an Indigo 500 CD-RW and I have had a similar problem except I can wake the computer and then it stops. I have also up-graded my hard drive, I now have a 40 gig Western Digital 5400rpm; however I have had the problem with both hard drives, in OS 9 & X. Also it doesn't happen all the time, once every four or so sleep attempts, and the noise sounds like it is reverberating from the CD-RW drive also? I recently had my video board replaced and the apple tech said he could not find the sleep problem. Although i think they just forgot to look because when I asked if they fixed the problem, it took the guy 5 minutes before he said " oh yeah, no did not see it " Anyway just food for thought!
