Recently I upgraded the hard drive in my iMac 350 with a 30G 5400 RPM
Western Digital drive. I have been happy with it except for one thing:
sometimes (maybe one time out of 20) when I put the machine to sleep, the
hard drive doesn't spin down properly, and keeps trying to spin up/spin
down, requiring a reset-button restart.

Is there a fix for this? Is the drive in some way defective?

It doesn't sleep automatically, such as "after 30 minutes," but that's been
a problem for years before this drive, except for some reason right after
replacing the drive, when for a few days for some reason it obeyed its sleep
settings like a champ.

Suggestions welcome.

 TIA,

Beverly
