If the chooser is asking for a IP Server it's not seeing the other Mac. I suspect you don't have "ethernet" selected as the network type on both Mac's? Use "Apple Talk" control panel (Network" control panel on older OS's) to select "ethernet" as the type of Apple talk network. Be sure that Apple talk is turned on in both choosers. The basic steps for your two, pre OS X Mac networks is: Master Mac or Mac # 1 Open Chooser, turn on Apple Talk Open Apple Talk control panel, select ethernet Open file sharing (sharing set up on older OS's) give the Mac a name, you don't need a password for your own network, leave it blank click "start', and close Slave Mac or mac # 2 Same steps, Now go to chooser, click on the AppleShare icon. The other Mac will show up as an icon, highlight and select it, a window will open to "Connect to file server "Master mac" as: select registered user and type in the name you gave it in the file sharing control. another window will open showing the Mac. Click Ok and you'll find it's hard drive mounted on the right side of your desktop. Drag anything you like back and forth from one mac to the other. Good luck, should work just fine. I have never had it not work. Jack Russell -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
