I've been thinking about getting a USB to serial adapter too, to connect my
iMac to my Laserwriter 4/600 PS, but just today started leaning more towards
an Ethernet to Localtalk (serial) adapter instead. Here's why:

1) I already have a ton of USB stuff dangling from my iMac as it is, and it
seems the more I plug in, the more problems I have.

2) I already have a small network (iMac and Quadra sharing the LaserWriter
and cable internet) and so if I used the USB device, and wanted to print
from the Quadra, I'd have to walk to the iMac, turn it on, and wait for it
to boot before I could print. With the ethernet to localtalk box, I could
print from any computer on the network, without worrying about what other
computers are turned on at the moment.
