Warning! This is what I'd heard somewhere that caused me to try Silverlining on my iMac hard drive, with disastrous results leading to an unusable drive, requiring a lot of work to bring it back.
Maybe because I have version 6.4? But if my experience is any indication, you'd want to be *very* certain of what you're doing before letting Silverlining partition your internal drive. If you want the whole story, see my column "Don't Try This At Home:" http://www.lowendmac.net/woods/02/0322.html Beverly > > SilverLining, by LaCie, in previous versions, > did have the ability to partition, and repartition, > without losing data. > I believe that the last version to do so was 5.8.3. > I utilized it many times under system 7.6.1. > > >> > If there's no Mac software to re-partition a hard drive without loosing the >> > data, then why does Norton Speed Disk have an option for defragmenting all >> > the files to one side of a hard drive, called "re-partitioning" or something >> > like that? >> > >> > Just wishful thinking on Norton's part maybe? >> > -- Beverly Woods Visit my Low End Mac column: http://www.lowendmac.net/woods/index.html music website: http://www.sethausten.com/ -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
