Great question, unfortunately the answer is fuzzy. Some updates will 
incorporate the previous updates so a single download  takes care of 
things, others must be downloaded sequentially to upgrade to the latest 
version.

Usually if  what you are trying to install requires an earlier upgrade, 
you'll get an alert box telling you that you must first install an 
earlier version. Keeps users from getting bored. <G>
