If you have Software Update turned on, this app will periodically compare
your system to what is considered "up to date" by Apple, and will, depending
on how you have it configured, either automatically or manually download and
install system updates. Not all updates are necessarily necessary for your
particular system. For example, if you are not using Airport, then an Airport
software update would be unnecessary.

things I could download from the Apple site, most of which I don't need
(airport stuff, for example) or can't use (OSX stuff). However, how do I
know what I SHOULD download? How do you keep up with all the latest, and
know which ones to use? Also, what are security updates? Should I download
them all, or would downloading the most recent catch me up in that category?
