That would mostly depend on the software you're giving her? If most of 
what you have is OS X compatible, then sure, it's a great OS for a 
novice to learn from scratch. If most of your stuff is for OS 9 and 
earlier then why not just put OS 9 on it. She doesn't have to learn two 
OS's  (X and Classic) and it will be easy for you to help her when she 
calls with a problem.
