Hi; I'm new to this list and never saw the original post here, but from what I understand Claire might try the software app called "Coaster" to do voice recording. You can select the format you want to record it in, then burn the CD as either audio CD or as Mac files. It's a really, really simple program to use and probably over-kill for what she wants, but it's free (MacAddict disk #63 from Nov 2001 has a freeware version on it). Depending on the microphone, it might even work for the acousitc guitar recording. Incidentally, I haven't tried listening to the audio CD's I've recorded on a regular analog player, just in my Mac. Sure hope it works for you.
