The usual sign of multiple partitions is having more than one hard drive icon on your desktop, each partition shows up as if it were a separate hard drive. It is possible, though unlikely, that you could have additional partitions, but only one is set to mount at startup. A quick check would be to select your hard drive on the desktop, and choose "get info" from the finder.
