The hardware has advanced at an amazing pace. But what hasn't really kept up are totally new ideas for what to do with the computer. I mean, in 1985 people were basically doing the same things with their C64s we are doing today with our iMacs. Word processing, email, record keeping, playing games... we may have 2048 times the RAM we had back then, but I do not think that things are anywhere near 2048 times as entertaining, or efficient, or cool. Maybe the big change that's happened in between the C64's heyday and today is that so many more people are using computers now. Just some random ideas, I'm not saying that we should all go back to C64s, though I do still switch mine on from time to time to show people the awesome audio visual demos people are still producing that run on a stock 1Mhz 64K machine. -John -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
