A Wintel of comparable speed will be a bit (a lot!) faster, at least compared to OS 8 or 9. Dunno about X. I guess the OpenTransport has a lot of old (68k) still in it. Soloution will be more MHz and memory since dev of OS9 is nowhere to be seen.
