I got a copy of the trial version of Deck, and I have a couple of questions about it. After about 20 minutes or so of twiddling with various buttons and menu commands, I finally figured out how to get a few test audio tracks into Deck. One thing I like better about SoundEdit 16, you simply open an AIFF file and poof! There it is, ready to edit! The other thing I'm having trouble with is moving tracks. I can select a track and move it to the right. Ok - that's the same as in SoundEdit. But later, when I try to move that same track back to the left, it won't move (unless I immediately hit 'undo'. I can only move them to the right. So if I need to move a track back, I have to move all the others forward! Then I end up with a whole lot of blank space at the beginning. How do I delete that blank space? How can I get the tracks to move freely back and forth? Another thing I've noticed: When I did get all the tracks lined up properly, and then balanced the way I wanted, and did a 'Mix' to save it to a file, the balance of the track didn't come out the same as it sounded on the "mixing board". One track was noticeably louder, and another was too soft - but they were fine on the mixing board. What did I do wrong? One more question, but first a little about what I'm trying to accomplish: I take individual audio tracks from a famous theme park attraction (bootleg audio, not commercially available anywhere - don't even think about a lecture here!) and I mix them together to create an audio "ride-through". Eventually, I plan to add this soundtrack to a home video of the ride, replacing the existing soundtrack, eliminating all the ambient noise of a live recording. The biggest problem I encounter is synchronizing audio that came from a myriad of sources, mostly audio tape. Naturally, they all tend to run at slightly different speeds. In SoundEdit 16, after I applied the equalizer to the track to clean up the sound, I could select the affected track and adjust the pitch (and subsequentially, the speed) until it synchronized perfectly with a "control" track (one that is running at the correct speed). I did play with the pitch slider in the "transporter" window, but it changed the pitch of all of the tracks, and it doesn't have the ability to make it speed up. Is there a way to tweak the speed of just that one track? I can't seem to find any other pitch control. Where is that function hidden? Most all the functions in SoundEdit 16 are pretty easy and straight-forward to use. So easy that I didn't have to read any manual on it, but it is somewhat limited in what it can do. There's quite a learning curve here, and I have a few other questions about how to use Deck, but I don't want to bombard you all at once!
