...unless you need to run other USB devices at the same time without having
to fiddle with plugging and unplugging things constantly.  I would go with a
powered hub anyway - you're bound to find some other device to connect - a
camera or scanner...  Belkin is a good brand, and you can find it in most
local stores nowadays.  But if you plan to only use a printer, then no, you
don't need a powered hub.
