Back in May, Charles Kaufman posted the following:

>>There are several USB and firewire converters out
there. They work with varying degree of success.
In general the USB to serial converter work the
best, the firewire to SCSI converter are so so,
and the USB to SCSI converter are marginal at
best. Connecting SCSI scanners to an iMac up a
USB converter is probably the most problematic.<<

I'm thinking about purchasing a new iMac 17" in the next couple of days.
Currently, I have a beige G3 with a Laserwriter 360 Select and a Nikon
2000 film scanner. My concern is whether I can connect these older
peripherals to the iMac and how. The scanner has a SCSI connection and
after reading the above post, it seems like using a SCSI/USB connector
has some problems. Also, the printer uses a peripheral-8 cable or
LocalTalk. Is it possible to to connect these devices to the iMac and
get them to operate reliably? If so, how?
