Copying the CD doesn't make the disk it's on bootable. Anyway, the System Folder on the iMac CD refuses to boot on a hard disk. I tried installing Mac OS 9 on a 5400 this way; it told mew "This System Folder only works on its original media." If you have a generic Mac OS 9 CD (not an iMac CD), then do a clean install on the 6500 and make it a "Universal System." There's not an option for this in the 9 installer unless I missed something last time I used it, so just select the minimum options. After copying to the iMac, make sure the System Folder has a Mac face icon on it.
