If you install Mac OS 9, it will not mess with your OS 10 installation
(because the folders that Mac OS 9 and older use have different names,
therefore no conflict). However, you should install Mac OS 9.2 if you do
this because it's Startup Disk control panel supports selecting a startup
disk and the folder to start up from on that disk, so you can switch between
OS 9 and 10 if they are on the same partition. It also adds "(Mac OS 9)" to
the Applications folder so it doesn't get confused with 10. If you're going
to use OS 9.1, that's OK too; it's designed to run alongside OS 10 and
Startup Disk 9.2 is likely to be available at the Apple web site. Whatever
you do, installing Mac OS 9.0 is generally not a good idea because it is not
designed to share a disk with Mac OS 10 and cannot be used with Classic
mode.
