Until Tuesday, we have to ASSUME that this speculation is either true 
or false, it's just a rumour at this point.

If it IS true, it wouldn't surprise me. iMovie and iDVD cost money, so 
it's really only iPhoto that is going to a cost-for-upgrade model, and 
everyone should be reminded that a) not only did the other two apps do 
exactly the same thing and nobody complained, but b) the latest version 
will continue to be free on new Macs, so just buy a new machine and 
don't worry about it, or use the old version if you're cheap -- it's 
still good you know. The new version of these apps are likely to have a 
LOT of new features, so charging a modest fee for it ($50 for all three 
if the reports are true) seems extremely reasonable to me. But there 
will be a cry like howler monkeys on a bed of nails from the 
professional whiners and freeloaders that seem to plague the Mac 
community these days.

As for giving away the updates to .Mac users, that would be an 
EXTREMELY smart move. I would even call it a BRILLIANT move. It's so 
good an idea, in fact, that I doubt Apple will do it! :)
