If that's what needed. The root user always enabled just do a 'ps aux'. The usual (and safest) way around not having the root password is to use sudo. % sudo <command> password: example: jax% sudo find / -name "pthread*" -print Password: this should get you anywhere you want to go. The password you are being prompted for is your own and this authentication enables you to do anything as root. hope that helps. -jacques.
