Wow. I apparently am not a very privileged person. The iMovie 1.0.2 Update that I just downloaded from macupdate.com tells me that it is "unable to execute" because I "don't have the appropriate privileges to use this file (-54).
Right before it shows this message, it very briefly flashes another box with a progress bar. It is on screen and then gone so quickly that I can't read it. I had reinstalled iMovie 1.0, since it was buggy. The version that was already installed had been 1.0.2, so when I reinstalled 1.0, I found and downloaded the update. Any ideas?
