Dale,

I find Safari is not really much faster than IE with a cable connection.  I
did notice, however, that Chimera seemed faster than Safari.  Safari does
some goofy things with files too - like downloading files to your desktop
that you didn't want.  Neither Safari nor Chimera have the features that I
need yet, so I'm sticking with IE for now.
