Give it all the memory your budget will handle. There's no such thing 
as too much memory for video editing. I believe the iMac DV 400 can 
handle up to 1 GB? Certainly 512 would be a good minimum for video work.

The "crash resistant" benefits of OS X would make it a strong candidate 
for a professional project involving video. It's a much more stable OS 
than any version of 9.
