Without Firewire, you can forget an external drive. You should probably be looking at either retrofitting your iMac with a faster processor card and FW port courtest HARMONi from Sonnet (cheap!!), or you should consider replacing the INTERNAL drive with a vastly bigger one. If you're not comfortable disassembling your iMac yourself, any good Apple-authorised tech should be able to do it for you for about 2 hours labour cost (plus the cost of the drive of course). The good news is that the iMac uses a stock IDE hard drive which are cheap, large and plentiful. I'd suggest you get recommendations on QUIET drives. _Chas_ Come to ...
