www.mozilla.org (sorry iCab fans ... it's fine, but it just ain't all there, and after three years I'm tired of waiting) > I've been hearing a lot of good things about OS X browsers, but don't > know > if the good old bondi blue can handle it. I've upgraded the ram to 256 > and > the hard drive to a 10 gig drive, but I still don't know if it will > run it > well. It can handle it. OS X will run noticeably slower than OS 9, but you pick up so many advantages that unless you're deeply in love with OS 9 it's probably worth it. If you install OS X tonight, you can run iMovie3, iPhoto2 and iTunes3, Safari, Chimera, iCal, iSync, X11, Keynote, Mail, Address Book, Sherlock 3 and iChat tomorrow -- and that's **just the free stuff from Apple!** (Okay, so Chimera isn't from Apple. And Keynote isn't free. It's cool as all git-out, though). The stability. The looks. The new (and in almost every case BETTER) way of doing things. Sure there's a bit of a learning curve if you're used to OS 9. Things have changed. But it's okay, really. It's better than okay. If you're going to be buying a new Mac soon anyway, then don't bother changing the iMac Bondi over to OS X, just leave it in 9 which I'm sure you'll enjoy. But when you get your hands on OS X and discover how amazingly easy it is and how it allows you to do things you *never* thought you'd attempt, you're gonna love it and wonder how you got along before. It's that good. _Chas_ Come to ...
