Usually they will both mail, and e-mail reminders, however, if the anniversary is close and they haven't, you can sign up on your own. Easiest using the 800 line. Certainly a worthwhile ounce of prevention with an expensive LCD display. It's not as expensive as it seems, since you receive a copy of Tech Tool Deluxe as part of the Apple Care package, and that's $90.00 if you just bought it outright.
