And even these requirements seem to be flexible. I purchased my iMac (Flower Power) from a place which represented it as new. Actually, it was used! The internal CDRW broke - probably my kids' fault. I just let it be and used an external one, until I wanted to install Jaguar, which cannot install from an external USB drive. I contacted Tech Support, who would not help me unless I got the burner fixed, and referred me to another department, which one I don't recall. I told them the iMac's serial number, and lo and behold, the previous owner had bought 3-year AppleCare, which the Apple support person transferred to my name immediately!! :-D Got the CDRW fixed for free, Jag purrs, and AppleCare doesn't run out 'til mid-March.
