I tried Installing 10.1 on my Rev B 160/4/24x last night, and had problems.. the first
time I tryed installing after leaving it on its own for about 30 minutes the installer
gave me the message: The Install had problems please try again and the option to
restart. I restarted.. and the installer this time mistakenly thought i was upgrading
from an older version of X and after just a couple minutes gave me the same message..
so after restarting telling it not to install some of the features i didn't need,
namely localization (language)packs i tried installing one last time and it got to the
end said installation was successful and let me restart and boot up x. It then
started the registration screens and got as far as setting a user account before it
locked up. what ever i was expecting from a x crash DOS text on the screen over the
desktop wasn't one of them. Unknown error has occurred Darwin kernel has failed and
it had two options <c> connect to support or <r> but the keyboard wasn't accepting
commands I couldn't shut down the power button didn't work i ended up cutting the
power. when x booted up again i had graphical errors around the buttons squares of
blue on the rightmost corner. and it hung up in the exact same way before i got done
with the registration screens. I tried it again this morning and x works with no
problems... when i logged off i had that same graphical errors around the log off
buttons on the Are you sure you want to log off dialog box. and before i shut down i
noticed their are two users listed now even though i had crashed before registering as
a user before. I was running a clean install of 9.2.2 before i installed x and had
3.0GB free on the drive.
